Wayne Rooney Punches Wade Barrett! The Man Utd skipper has been criticised for missing the target in from of goal this season but there’s nothing wrong with his right hook reports football betting tips site FC Bodog.

Rooney attended RAW with his son Kai, Ryan Giggs and Darren Fletcher at the Manchester Arena on Monday night but spectators were shocked when 6’7” wrestling giant Barrett began hurling insults at him.

English-born Barrett announced to a packed arena audience: “In this ring are two men who can be easily be described as championship material. Which is, of course, is more than can be said of Wayne Rooney and Manchester United.”

Barrett continued: “I’d hate for your little boy to sit there and watch his own father fail. Because let’s face it, he gets to experience that every single time you step on a football pitch.”

The wrestler and ex-bare-knuckle boxer then jumped down from the ring to antagonise Rooney before the striker knocked him to the floor with a right hand cuff to the side of Barrett’s head. The whole incident was clearly staged but it provided the crowd with great entertainment.

Meanwhile Rooney will captain England against Spain in Alicante on Friday. The Three Lions are trading at 5.00 odds to win the game with Spain chalked up at a best price 1.80. That seems a decent price for an England side who have breezed through their European qualifiers with nine wins from nine matches.

Rooney broke Bobby Charlton’s scoring record for England last month.

The problem is that it is hard to predict what sort of side their pedestrian manager Roy Hodgson will pick. Leicester City’s in-form Jamie Vardy had surely done enough to warrant a starting place but Hodgson could well experiment in this friendly.

Hodgson, who held onto his job despite England’s disgraceful effort at the Brazil World Cup where they failed to emerge from the group stage, has come under fire for not considering a number of players for the Spain game – Crystal Palace’s Scott Dann and Stoke City’s Ryan Shawcross to name but two.

But back to Rooney’s wrestling debut. After the show Barrett said on Twitter: “I’m heading to Old Trafford early tomorrow morning. I hope @WayneRooney has the guts to meet me there. Does anyone have Phil Bardsley’s phone number?”

Rooney was involved in a high profile boxing incident in his own kitchen earlier this year with defender Bardsley. The Stoke City player appeared to knock Rooney out on leaked camera footage but the incident was later exposed as a prank.
