In the FIFA Club World Cup Odds, Los Merengues are the favorites to win this tournament for the first time in their history. The team led by Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti is listed at online sportsbook Bodog with 1.16 to lift the cup in Morocco
Real Madrid comes into this game with an impressive streak of 20 consecutive wins in all competitions. The Spanish team has not lost a game since Sept. 13, when they fell 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in la Liga.
Los Merengues are on the top of the Spanish league with 39 points, four more than Barcelona, and are the best offense with 55 goals scored, 25 of which has been from Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cruz Azul became the fifth Mexican team to advance to the semifinals of the tournament and will try to be the first to reach the final. The team led by Luis Fernando Tena needed overtime to beat Wanderers 3-1 in their debut. Captain Gerardo Torrado scored two goals in that game.
The blue team had a poor season in the Torneo Clausura 2014 and finished in the 13th place in the standings with 21 points thanks to five wins, six draws and six defeats, scoring 16 goals and allowing 15. Cruz Azul have 17 straight years without winning the title of Mexican soccer.
It will be the second time that Real Madrid will face a Mexican team in the FIFA Club World Cup. The first time was in 2000 in a match for third place against Necaxa, and the white squad lost on penalties 4-3, after in regular time they tied 1-1 with goals from Raul and Agustin Delgado.
Real Madrid should take the victory by several goals and advance to the final, where they will face the winner between San Lorenzo from Argentina and Auckland City from New Zealand.
