Leicester City Can’t Win EPL! Fancy a bet on Leicester City to win the league? Don’t do it says star player Riyad Mahrez reports football betting tips site FC Bodog.
The Foxes have started the season brilliantly and are currently two points clear at the top of the table after 15 matches. But winger Riyad Mahrez, who has scored 11 goals this season, says that winning the league isn’t a realistic option.
“I don’t think we can win the league. We just need to get the 40 points and then after that we will see.”
The Algerian international added that he hasn’t been surprised by his form this season.
“I’m not surprised because I knew I could do the things that I have done. Football is just confidence. When you start scoring and you carry on it gives you more confidence so maybe that has helped me.”
Leicester are quoted at 29.00 odds to win the EPL. At the start of the season they were 5001.00 to win the title.
French-speaking Mahrez had been linked with a move to the south of France with Olympique Marseille earlier in the 2015/15 campaign.
However, the president of L’OM Monsieur Labrune had been quoted as saying: “Do you really think that Leicester players now have a place at Olympique Marseille? I don’t put up with people taking me for a sucker.”
Those comments seem rather stupid given Mahrez’s brilliance this season and the Algerian had his own response to Labrune.
“He thinks what he thinks. I know what I am, I know what I’m doing in the football, I know what I can do. The people who don’t know football – I don’t want to speak about them.
“Everyone’s not going to love you. Sometimes some people love you, some people hate you, some people don’t like your football. That’s life so I don’t care, I don’t mind.”
Next up for the Foxes is a game against Chelsea at the King Power stadium. Surprisingly, Claudio Ranieri’s men can be backed at 3.40 underdogs to win that game.
Chelsea’s price has moved from 2.40 odds to 2.20 on the back of their impressive 2-0 victory over Porto on Wednesday evening.
But the sensible play here has to be on a home win. Mahrez goes into the match on the back of a hat-trick at Swansea and striker Jamie Vardy is clearly in fine form with 14 goals so far this season.
