Lucky Liverpool Odds Shorten After Win – the Merseysiders are trading at 5.50 (from a pre-game 7.00) following their late win over Bolton Wanderers writes football betting tips site FC Bodog.
With just four minutes left on the clock Liverpool were facing elimination as Bolton clung onto their 1-0 lead but goals from Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho provided spectators with a dramatic ending.
Liverpool’s travelling support went delirious but they came so close to what would have been an embarrassing exit to Neil Lennon’s side. It is estimated that the Liverpool squad cost TWENTY FIVE times that of Bolton’s.
Liverpool will now play Crystal Palace in the 5th round at Selhurst Park and are third favourites in the betting behind Arsenal and Man Utd.
Bolton manager Neil Lennon was furious with referee Roger East’s performance. The former Celtic manager was not at all satisfied with the sending off of Neil Danns for two yellow cards.
Danns’ dismissal left Bolton fighting a rearguard action with just 10 men and could be argued was the major factor in Liverpool scoring their two late goals.
Lennon said of the referee: “I thought he was rubbish. I thought he spoiled what was a very good game. He (Danns) doesn’t make contact and it’s his first challenge of the game. I thought there were other things that went on in the game that went Liverpool’s way.
“I told Neil at half-time he had to be careful but the first one wasn’t a yellow card. I don’t think the referee had a choice with the second.”
In fairness Lennon recognised that the penalty kick from which Bolton took the lead through veteran Eidhur Gudjohnsen was a mistake by the referee also.
It’s now Liverpool odds of 1.95 they win at Selhurst Park in the 5th round.
Understandably Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was delighted woith the result and singled out Coutinho as a star player.
“You’d pay money to watch that kid and watch how he plays football. He is a great role model for many technical players who are technically good and maybe not as big in stature.
“He’s a wonderful player and he’s really committed to this club. The result was justice. At 1-0, I expected us to win. I think the confidence in the team is very high.
“We created some chances and didn’t quite take them and went a goal down to what was never a penalty. After that we kept our composure and quality. We scored two but could have had many, many more.
“We have got great belief at the moment and you can’t question their character.”
