English League Cup Tips Stoke v Liverpool

The semifinals of the Capital One Cup will begin this Tuesday, January 5th when Stoke City host Liverpool at Britannia Stadium at 20:00.

This will be the sixth meeting between these two teams in the League Cup and the Reds have dominated the series with four wins and one draw. The last meeting was 15 years ago when they trashed the Potters 8-0 with a hat-trick from Robbie Fowler.

Stoke City’s only game with no defeat versus the Reds in this tournament was in 1991 as they tied 2-2 at Anfield. Liverpool have the lead in all competitions with 68 wins and 35 draws in 133 games played.

The Potters defeated Sheffield Wednesday in the quarterfinals and are in the semifinals for the first time since the 1972-73 season when they won the tournament. They also come to this match after falling last weekend in the local tournament, as they lost 2-1 to West Brom away from home.

English striker Daniel Sturridge is the favorite to score the first goal in this match and he is listed with 6.0 Odds. He is followed by Cristian Benteke with 6.5 and Divock Origi with 7.5. A game with no goals is at 8.5.

Despite they have struggled to score in their last four meetings, take Liverpool to win this game by one goal. The Reds lifted the Cup four years ago and are the team with most titles in this tournament with eight, three more than any other club.
